If the next art movement after postmodernism is truly contingent on the fall of capitalism, then isn’t that the strongest argument against our idea that we can define ‘art’? We are nowhere in control because we are bottlenecked by social circumstance; we further do not have the ability to define a new art movement because we are not able to progress into it.
